Our Story
How It Started
Our wood sign workshops started as a custom sign shop for friends, turned into a business idea and then a reality in May 2015. Bree, your instructor and founder, shares a passion for creating home décor and DIY projects. Woodworking & paint techniques combined with the latest trends and custom graphics is what created the Michigan Made Sign Co. concept.
We a wide variety of hands-on experiences from workshops, private parties, bridal showers, bachelorette gatherings, children’s birthday bashes, corporate events, and fundraisers. All projects come in various sizes to fit most budgets and spaces, and include everything you will need to leave with a beautiful, classic wooden piece to adorn your walls.
Your Artists
Bree and Steve Buero are the owners of the Michigan Made Gift Co., located in Waterford, Michigan. We are a happily married couple who does nearly EVERYTHING together...including this! Having met later in life, we subscribe to that whole "wish I'd have met you sooner, so I could love you longer" kind of mentality.
Steve is a graphic designer and a financial manager, and Bree is a third generation maker. We have a small (but lovely) little shop behind our second generation family home that provides us with everything we need to create some really beautiful and amazing art.
Every single item in our shop is MADE TO ORDER, and passes though our crafty little hands. Whenever possible we source local materials to create. Bree (sunshine and sawdust) custom cuts, sands and paints all of our signs, while Steve churns out designs left and right!! He also does a fair share of our grit blasting of glass...but being the TECH GUY takes quite a bit of time. Steve services our websites and finances between our two companies, and HIS OWN.
WE PROVIDE A TRULY CUSTOM PRODUCT. You can request nearly any finish, any size...and any design. We will always try to meet your challenges with fresh eyes and a bucket load of patience....as we work together to create something perfectly custom to suit your needs.
Aside from our ETSY SHOP, and our RETAIL SALES...We have also developed a second business, hosting DIY HOME SIGN MAKING PARTIES! The Michigan Made Gift Co. has helped over 1,000 guests create beautiful signs for their homes, and or to give as gifts! We travel all over our state hosting sign painting parties large and small, private, corporate and fundraising - And we've found a great way to book up EVERY WEEKEND!
